About CoE in Tourism Innovation

CoE in Tourism Innovation is an initiative shared between public and private sectors to promote innovation, sustainability and competitiveness of destinations and companies through applied research activities, innovation, knowledge transfer and competitive intelligence services.

The CoE is promoted by Eurecat with the initial collaboration of the Directorate General of Tourism of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the four Catalan Provincial Councils and the City Councils of Barcelona and Vila-seca, in addition to leading companies and businesses operating in the sector.

Contribute significantly to the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism-related activities, destinations and companies through innovation, knowledge and technology.

Vision

To be a clear benchmark internationally in the field of technological innovation and knowledge transfer in the tourism sector, and also in the analysis and study of tourism activity and the prescription of policies and instruments of and for the sector.

Objectives of CoE in Tourism Innovation

Promote innovation, sustainability and competitiveness of destinations and companies through market intelligence, research programmes and tourism information systems, as well as the dissemination of good practices.

Promote innovation and technological development as instruments for efficiency in the management and the adaptation of tourism products to meet demands, through advanced technologies for  competitive intelligence, energy efficiency and sustainability, as well as the design of experiences and contents.

Promote the creation of innovative projects, with visibility and usefulness for companies, destinations and individuals, which constitute good practices for the sector as a whole.

Promote the internationalisation of the solutions developed in collaboration with leading-edge international companies and organisations.

 

Favour the exchange of knowledge and the generation of new initiatives through a regular programme of promotion and dissemination activities, publications and reference events.
